    Grand Rapids MI-based Gordon Food Service opened it first GFS Marketplace wholesale store August 25 in Louisville KY. The distributor will sell food and supplies in bulk, and no warehouse membership is necessary for purchases.

    This 14,000-square-foot wholesale store will have about 25 employees and offer more than 3,000 products, including produce, frozen foods, and dairy.

    With 111 GFS Marketplace stores in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, and Florida, Gordon also distributes wholesale foods to commercial clients. It reportedly plans to construct a 300,000-sq-ft distribution center in Shepherdsville KY that could generate almost 200 new jobs.
