Lykes Lines is upgrading its Pacific Sprint service, adding calls at the Chinese ports of Shanghai and Chiwan.
“We already call at Hong Kong on this service but are adding these two extra ports because of the growing trade between China and the United States and Mexico,” says Tony Bruno, senior vice-president of Lykes.
This is the first time the line will call at Chiwan, which is based in the manufacturing zone around the Pearl River Delta.
The call at Shanghai will offer Lykes customers a 17-day transit time to Manzanillo, Mexico. Lykes already calls at Shanghai on its Asia Canada Sprint, Asia-West Coast Americas, and Asia-South America Multipurpose services.
The Pacific Sprint is one of Lykes premium services (all named Sprint), offering weekly fixed day sailings, fast transits and unbeatable schedule integrity. The six 4,050-TEU ships on the route all have a reefer capacity of 400 TEU.
The new port rotation for the Pacific Sprint is: Chiwan, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Pusan, Yokohama(eastbound), Los Angeles, Ensenada, Manzanillo, Yokohama(westbound), Kobe, Kaoshiung, Hong Kong, and Chiwan.
