Smart & Final Inc, the Los Angeles CA-based operator of warehouse stores for food and foodservice supplies, reported income from continuing operations of $8.3 million for the 12-week quarter ended June 13, 2004. This is an increase of $14.9 million over the prior year’s $6.6 million second-quarter loss from continuing operations.
Sales from continuing operations in the current year’s second quarter were $457.8 million, a 16.6% gain over second-quarter 2003 sales of $392.7 million. Second-quarter 2004 comparable store sales climbed by 16.3%.
