Crete Carrier Corp plans to invest $5.4 million in a new facility in Roane County, Tennessee, near Interstate 40 in the Knoxville-Oak Ridge Innovation Valley.

Expected to create 50 jobs, the site will include an eight-bay drive-through maintenance operation, office, and driver amenities such as a lunchroom, lounge, and bunk room.

The 26-acre site was sold in a private land transaction, according to the East Tennessee Economic Development Agency.

Founded in 1966, Crete is an irregular-route motor common and contract carrier operating in the 48 contiguous United States, Canada, and Mexico with 5,700 trucks and 13,000 trailers. It includes the Shaffer Trucking refrigerated division, the Crete Carrier van division, and the Hunt Transportation flatbed division.
