TruTac helping Arra Distribution maintain cool compliance
Temperature-controlled logistics specialist Arra Distribution is reporting “marked improvement” in compliance management, including more efficient driver monitoring and smoother DVSA inspections, since installing software tools from fleet management and tacho software expert TruTac.
With 60 vehicles delivering 24/7 from five distribution hubs throughout the United Kingdom, Arra required a system that could consolidate all driver, vehicle and tachograph data so that compliance procedures could be managed online from anywhere within the operation.
“The beauty of TruTac’s software is its ease of use,” said James Buttery, general manager of the Tamworth operation. “Before we installed the system, we had our work cut out monitoring WTD regs and managing driver information. Lots of paperwork and inefficient procedures, which cost us in terms of time and labor. Now, I’m pleased to say, TruTac’s easy-to-read data presentation makes analysis fast and accurate.”
By using TruTac’s DigiPostPro hardware at each site, the Arra operations team also can download tacho data without a PC and instantly view information such as vehicle speeds, break intervals and daily working times, TruTac said. All of which is viewable on a single screen with individual driver averages and an automatic alert system to flag anomalies.
“This allows us to deal with any infringements almost as soon as they happen,” Buttery said. “And with the software module TruControl, using TruAnalysis, TruDriver and TruView, data is seamlessly captured, uploaded and analyzed via the DigiPostPro terminals at every site, which is so much easier than our previous method of manually gathering the information.”
For DVSA inspections and in the event of a roadside issue, Buttery points to the encrypted driver and vehicle data, which automatically comes from the TruTac team. Within hours of a potential PG9 (roadside prohibition notice) being served, the requisite compliance data is accessed and reviewed and a PG10 (fit for service) document is released.
“It means we don’t have vehicles taken off the road while waiting for paperwork and supporting data to be retrieved,” Buttery explained. “The system is easy to use, was quick to install and the drivers find it helpful. Moreover, the readily available compliance data will continue to be of great use as we head towards ER (Earned Recognition) status.”
Arra Distribution runs Mercedes Actros units supported by a mixed fleet of single and dual temperature-controlled trailers. The company has BRS accreditation and is member of the RHA.
TruTac, based in Coventry, is part of the Microlise group.
