GCCF continues food waste reduction program to support member product donations

The Global Cold Chain Foundation (GCCF) recently announced continued support for members through its Food Waste Reduction Initiative (FWRI), which helps facilitate food donations and redistribution. The company, which collaborates with food rescue organizations, food banks, and logistics partners, provides access to cold chain logistics expertise while helping members donate usable food.
Since 2022, GCCF has worked with partners to connect members with organizations capable of receiving and distributing donated products. These efforts support families in need while reducing food sent to landfills.
As part of this work, GCCF recognized Summit Cold Storage for donating more than 200,000 lb. of frozen food after seeking assistance in identifying organizations with sufficient cold storage capacity. GCCF connected Summit Cold Storage with qualified recipients, allowing the donation to move efficiently and support meal distribution efforts. The donation is expected to provide more than 185,000 meals to families.
“GCCF is proud to support members with food redistribution,” said Amanda Brondy, VP of international projects, who leads the FWRI. “It’s been a tough year for a lot of families, and it is more critical than ever to keep good food out of landfills and ensure it makes it into the homes of our neighbors. We want to raise awareness so more of our members can engage in these efforts with us.”
