FedEx Custom Critical enhances Temp-Assure

FedEx Custom Critical Inc, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation (NYSE: FDX), is enhancing its core Temp-Assure ground service.

FedEx Custom Critical Inc, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation (NYSE: FDX), is enhancing its core Temp-Assure ground service. Improvements to the service will provide more transportation systems for customers that need hard-copy temperature documentation for shipments throughout transit.

To make the service improvements, the company is qualifying all of the vehicles in its Temp-Assure fleet, which includes cargo vans, straight trucks, and tractor-trailers. To be qualified, each vehicle must meet minimum equipment and temperature performance specifications and be able to provide a hard–copy printout of the temperature recording at the conclusion of the shipment. The company is also implementing standard operating procedures to proactively address temperature deviations during transit of all Temp-Assure shipments.

“Our customers have told us they need a service somewhere between a basic temperature-control truck and a fully validated service,” said Virginia Albanese, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Custom Critical. “The upgrades we are making to our Temp-Assure service will provide a cost-effective solution to fill that need.”

Changes to the Temp-Assure service are the latest additions to the temperature-control shipping portfolio for FedEx Custom Critical. The company also offers Temp-Assure Validated, a ground service that uses validated processes and provides support for quality assurance activities from an in-house quality management team. For international shipping, Temp-Assure Air and Validated Air employ the FedEx Express air network and temperature-controlled air cargo containers for deliveries across the globe.

FedEx Custom Critical provides expedited shipping throughout North America and internationally. Among its divisions are Surface Expedite, for exclusive-use shipping; Air Expedite, for premium air systems to meet critical delivery times; and White Glove Services, for shipments that require extra care in handling, temperature control, or specialized security. The company’s subsidiary, FedEx Truckload Brokerage, is also available to meet truckload shipping needs.
