Grand Island Express has chosen PAR Logistics Management Systems (PAR LMS), a wholly owned subsidiary of PAR Technology Corporation (NYSE: PAR), to provide real-time monitoring and control for its refrigerated fleet of 225 trailers.

The PAR system generates information needed to monitor and control reefer temperatures, react and respond to alarms, and optimize logistics and management of trailers and employees. Customized reporting provides users with alerts and alarms on variances to refrigerated trailer temperatures, operability, low fuel, abnormal/excessive fuel consumption, and excessive dwell time. If cold chain requirements call for temperature monitoring at the product level, PAR provides an independent hard-wired product temperature probe to monitor and report every 15 minutes.

In business since 1967, Grand Island Express is owned and operated by the Pirnie family. James D Pirnie started the company as a moving and storage concern, but soon expanded into refrigerated services. Today the firm provides a variety of services, and the company’s overall revenues have increased by more than 70% over the past five years. PAR’s system will provide real-time reefer temperature monitoring on a continual basis during transit and provide Grand Island’s fleet operations immediate alerts of door-open, reefer alarms as well as arrival and departure notifications.

“At Grand Island our commitment to exceptional customer service is what keeps our business growing, so we look for the same qualities in our partners and PAR exceeded our criteria,” said Andy Winker, Grand Island’s director of operations. “Early on we began to see a return on our investment with substantial reefer fuel savings but most importantly, our customers can now rest assured that the integrity of their refrigerated loads will be monitored for any temperature variation and protected from unauthorized door openings while in our custody.”

PAR LMS supplies visibility to refrigerated and non-refrigerated trailers, containers, and gen-sets throughout North America. Access www.parlms.com to learn more.
