Choptank Transport, a nationwide third-party logistics (3PL) company headquartered in Preston MD, has announced its third expansion in eight years. Incorporated in 2000, Choptank Transport first expanded its office space in 2007, adding 5,600 square feet to the existing A W Sisk & Sons building. In 2011, when many companies were still trying to recover from the recession of 2008, business was booming at Choptank Transport—so much that the company once again needed to create even more office space to accommodate a growing customer base. This second expansion was much larger, adding 9,000 square feet with 120 new sales and logistics seats. As freight and logistics outsourcing became a more popular and more practical solution for both large and small companies, it didn’t take long for Choptank Transport to fill the building with new employees. Once again, the 3PL found itself in need of additional space.
So, this spring, the company is breaking ground for a 10,000-sq-ft addition that will mirror its 2011 counterpart. This will mean an additional 120 sales and logistics positions available in Preston while the company’s outside offices also continue to grow. The company is already looking to fill positions, and applicants can apply online at www.choptanktransport.com/careers/. “My thanks go out to our phenomenal employees, customers, and carriers that have made our growth possible,” said Geoff Turner, president and chief executive officer of Choptank Transport. “I’d also like to acknowledge the willingness of state and local officials to assist in helping Choptank grow.” A full-service, freight brokerage specializing in truckload shipping, the company offers refrigerated and dry van transport, flatbed, intermodal, and LTL services. Choptank Transport serves the 48 contiguous United States and Canada with five outside offices in Tampa FL, Nashville TN, Atlanta GA, Denver CO, and Dallas TX.
