Transportation and logistics provider Werner Enterprises Inc (NASDAQ:WERN) recently supported the World’s Largest Truck Convoy from Hastings NE to Grand Island NE to raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics.

“The World’s Largest Truck Convoy is our favorite event each year,” said Larry Derr, Werner’s two million accident-free mile professional driver. “It’s a rewarding opportunity to volunteer in the community and interact with the athletes.”

Running September 15-16, the truck convoy started at the Adams County Fairgrounds in Hastings and ended at Bosselman Travel Center in Grand Island. This year, 20 Werner professional drivers took part in the 15th annual event, which raised funds to benefit the more than 5,000 Special Olympic athletes in Nebraska.

Founded in 1956, Werner maintains its global headquarters in Omaha NE and offices in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China and Australia. It is among the five largest truckload carriers in the United States, with a portfolio of transportation services that includes temperature-controlled; dedicated; medium-to-long-haul, and regional and expedited van. The Werner Logistics portfolio includes truck brokerage, freight management, intermodal, international and final mile services. International services are provided through Werner’s domestic and global subsidiary companies and include ocean, air and ground transportation; freight forwarding; and customs brokerage.
