Hirschbach Motor Lines was honored recently with a SmartWay Excellence Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency as an industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency.
This marks the second year the company has received the award, having also been honored in 2016. Hirschbach has deployed the latest in aerodynamic technologies, green-initiative policies, and software designed to route and fuel equipment with carbon reduction in mind. Through a concerted effort, the Hirschbach team has increased miles per gallon by 3.4% and reduced carbon dioxide output per mile by 3.2%.
“Hirschbach continues to work hard to find the balance between driver comfort, customer requirements and driving down carbon emissions,” said John Vesey, operations support manager for Hirschbach. “Each of these are difficult in and of themselves, but the strategies between the three can be challenging. Being an EPA SmartWay Excellence awardee for the second consecutive year is yet another incentive to continue our due diligence to our drivers, customers and the environment.”
“We’re very proud to have earned this award for a second straight year,” said Brad Pinchuk, president and CEO of Hirschbach. “Receiving this award is a reflection of a lot of hard work on the part of our professional mechanics and drivers who take great pride in how they maintain and operate our equipment to maximize fuel economy.
“I would also like to commend John Vesey for his hard work and leadership in this area,” said Pinchuk.
Hirschbach was one of 62 companies to receive this distinction, representing the best environmental performers of SmartWay’s 3,600 Partners. The Excellence awardees were honored at the American Trucking Associations Management & Exhibition Annual Conference held in Orlando FL recently.
