Hirschbach Motor Lines earns its third consecutive SmartWay Excellence Award

Nov. 5, 2018
Learn why Hirschbach Motor Lines has received a US EPA SmartWay Excellence Award three consecutive years.

Hirschbach Motor Lines was honored recently with a SmartWay Excellence Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency as an industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency. This marks the third year the company has received the award, having also been honored in 2016 and 2017.

The firm adopted an aggressive weight-reducing strategy to increase average payload by 3.57% year-over-year, while still maintaining a full-sized sleeper for drivers. In addition, Hirschbach has reduced idling by 6.3% through driver coaching and incentives, which in turn reduces emissions and creates six-figure savings in maintenance and fuel.

“Hirschbach is grateful for this third consecutive award from SmartWay, said John Vesey, operations support manager with Hirschbach. “We strive for excellence in all facets of our business, from driver relations to employee health to environmental awareness, so this is really such a great honor. Our focus on freight-efficiency is an ever-evolving strategy and a labor of high importance to our organization.”

“We’re extremely proud to have earned this award for a third straight year,” said Brad Pinchuk, president and CEO of Hirschbach. “Receiving this award is a reflection of a lot of hard work on the part of our professional mechanics and drivers who take great pride in how they maintain and operate our equipment to maximize fuel economy.”

Hirschbach was one of 40 truck carriers to receive this distinction, representing the best environmental performers of SmartWay’s 3700 Partners. The Excellence Awardees were honored at the 2018 American Trucking Associations Annual Management Conference & Exhibition in Austin TX recently.

Founded in 1935, Hirschbach provides experienced, refrigerated truckload services to all 48 states. In addition, it offers a range of dedicated transportation solutions and specialized services. The company has a fleet of 1,650-plus trucks and more than 2,800 trailers, as well as multiple terminal locations. For more information, visit www.hirschbach.com.
