ClimaCab electric HVAC system produces no emissions
Glacier Bay's ClimaCab is a self-contained no-idle, pure electric HVAC system for Class 8 sleeper cabs that require no fuel or maintenance, and has zero emissions.
ClimaCab uses high-voltage, continuously variable speed compressors and blowers to deliver 8,000 BTU per hour of air conditioning for more than 12 hours, said Kyle Houston, product manager with the advanced thermal and power management technology company. The system responds continuously and in real time to external temperature changes and load requirements.
The system recharges during normal truck operation and is compatible with 135-amp alternators.
Improved battery performance provides longer life, he said, and the Start Assist feature helps eliminate jump starts by recharging fully depleted starter batteries.
ClimaCab uses radiant heat transfer, an application developed by Glacier Bay specifically for the trucking industry. Installed over the bunk, radiant heat panels warm the driver directly, offering enhanced comfort while using minimal battery power.
For those preferring fuel-fired heaters, ClimaCab offers this option as well.
