Pelican BioThermal secures 2021 Minnesota Manufacturing Award
Pelican BioThermal, specializing in temperature-controlled packaging, recently was named a 2021 Minnesota Manufacturing Award honoree by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
The company received the Manufacturer of the Year award for its role in driving the region’s economy, as well as growing business through innovation and strategic evolution.
In the past year, Pelican BioThermal grew its product offerings and global footprint to better serve its customers. The company’s quick work to modify its existing line of temperature-controlled packaging to ship deep frozen COVID-19 vaccines led to a 22% increase in revenue, and 27% year-over-year growth in network stations and drop points provided more convenience for pharmaceutical companies shipping products worldwide, the company said.
Additionally, the acquisition of Nanocool, a temperature-controlled packaging manufacturer with shipping containers that require no pre-conditioning, supports the upward trajectory in last-mile distribution of life sciences materials and collection of patient laboratory samples.
“Despite the challenges of a global pandemic, we helped 100 pharmaceutical manufacturers worldwide achieve their objectives for logistics success,” said David Williams, president of Pelican BioThermal. “We’re honored to join the ranks of other Minnesota manufacturing companies creating a positive impact locally and globally.”
Manufacturer of the Year winners are selected based on financial performance, effective business strategy, innovative approaches to internal operations, corporate training and manufacturing processes, job creation or retention, and sustainable business practices. Pelican BioThermal joins 11 other companies being recognized for driving Minnesota’s local economy during one of the most challenging years for businesses.
