Key takeaways

  • Schmitz Cargobull’s new S.CU dc90 uses R454A refrigerant, reducing CO2 emissions by 89% compared to R452A.
  • The S.CU dc90 delivers 6% higher cooling capacity and 10% lower fuel use, improving fleet efficiency.
  • Designed for future EU F-Gas rules, the unit supports sustainable, low-emission refrigerated transport.

Schmitz Cargobull recently launched the S.CU dc90 transport refrigeration unit. The company, which manufactures temperature-controlled transport solutions, has made R454A standard in its S.CU modular system.

The new unit offers up to 6% higher cooling capacity and up to 10% lower fuel consumption compared with the previous S.CU dc85 model. The S.CU dc90 supports sustainability goals by reducing CO2 equivalence by up to 89% due to R454A’s lower GWP value.

The S.CU dc90 features a newly developed hermetic two-stage reciprocating compressor that reduces maintenance and repair costs while minimizing noise in partial load operation to enhance cab comfort. It continues to use the thermodynamically optimized Hatz common-rail diesel engine, which is compatible with CO2-neutral HVO100 fuel.

"With the S.CU dc90, we are offering our customers a future-proof solution that combines maximum cooling capacity with maximum efficiency and sustainability,” Jonathan Steckel, head of product management at Cargobull Cool GmbH & CO. KG, said. “The refrigeration unit is not only a technological advance but also a clear commitment to our aim of helping to shape temperature-controlled transport in a sustainable way.”
