At Volvo Trucks' Safety Symposium this week, reporters got a look at the OEM's advanced safety systems in action on the tarmac. Featuring Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems tech, Volvo Enhanced Stability Technology (VEST) and Volvo Active Driver Assist (VADA) were the stars of the show, with VEST able to avoid rollover and loss-of-control crashes and VADA providing collision avoidance/ mitigation through video- and radar-driven active braking.

Along with a Bendix test truck, two fleets — McKenzie Tank Lines of Tallahassee, FL and Hill Bros. of Omaha, NE — lent a few sharp-looking Volvo tractors equipped with active safety systems to participate in the event, which was held at the Michelin Laurens Proving Grounds in Laurens, SC.
