The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) will hold its 2026 Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative (HTAI) in the U.S. from January 12-16. The company, which coordinates safety campaigns across North America, educates commercial motor vehicle drivers, motor carriers, law enforcement officers, and the public about human trafficking, how to spot it, and how to respond.
During the five-day awareness initiative, jurisdictions across the U.S. will conduct outreach and report activities to CVSA, with results scheduled to be released this summer. CVSA offers awareness resources to its membership, and with the support of TAT (formerly Truckers Against Trafficking), it distributes complimentary wallet cards, posters, and window decals.
According to the United Nations, human trafficking, involves the recruitment, transport, transfer, harboring, or receipt of people through force, fraud, or deception for the purpose of exploitation. Victims can include men, women, and children of all ages and backgrounds, and traffickers often use violence, fake job opportunities, or fraudulent education programs to coerce victims.
CVSA will also hold Human Trafficking Awareness Initiatives in Canada (February 23-27) and Mexico (March 16-20).
