The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is preparing to launch a five-day human trafficking awareness and outreach effort ahead of the upcoming international men’s football/soccer competition.
The outreach effort, called the Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative (HTAI), is scheduled for June 1-5 and will involve law enforcement agencies, transportation safety organizations, truck drivers, trucking and motorcoach companies, and members of the public. The effort is designed to increase awareness of human trafficking risks tied to large-scale international events, including increased demand for services and pressure on local resources.
Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. will participate by distributing materials, hosting outreach campaigns, and providing training and educational resources for industry and enforcement personnel.
TAT (formerly Truckers Against Trafficking) offers HTAI postcards, wallet cards, posters, and window decals. Materials can be requested through an online order form and are provided free of charge, while supplies last.
Industry and enforcement members can also access on-demand human trafficking awareness training through the CVSA member portal. Additional support materials are available in English, French, and Spanish.
