CVSA releases 2026 human trafficking awareness results to strengthen prevention efforts

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) recently released the results of its 2026 Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative, highlighting education, outreach, inspections, and public awareness efforts across Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. The alliance reported participation from 56 jurisdictions focused on helping transportation professionals recognize and report suspected human trafficking.
Law enforcement agencies, motor carriers, and transportation safety organizations worked together to educate commercial drivers, fleet safety managers, owner-operators, and members of the public on how to identify indicators of human trafficking.
Reported outreach and enforcement activity:
- 638 media contacts and 85 social media posts.
- 244 presentations and 99 public events.
- Distribution of 37,642 wallet cards, 14,857 window decals, 6,555 brochures, and 15,130 distributed posters, with 968 posters displayed in public locations.
- Electronic materials were sent to 8,425 public officials, and outreach training was provided to 9,274 individuals.
- Completion of 9,375 Level I inspections, 14,376 Level II inspections, and 15,067 Level III inspections.
- Inspection of 1,035 commercial motor vehicles with passengers, documentation of 1,671 authorized passengers, and identification of 42 unauthorized passengers.
The awareness effort also included public service announcement videos that aired on Pluto TV, Paramount+, EYEQ Local, and Paramount/CBS Spanish-language channels. Combined, those campaigns generated more than 15 million impressions.
CVSA said free human trafficking prevention resources and educational materials remain available throughout the year.
