Intended to automate parts management and simplify maintenance data keeping, the next release of Dossier maintenance software will integrate with NAPA’s parts inventory management system.
The data exchange between the two systems will automatically populate Dossier’s database with full details on all parts consumed by a fleet, including part numbers, VMRS codes and cost, according to developer Arsenault Assocs. It also assigns that data to corresponding repair orders, freeing shop technicians from data entry.
Data flow in the other direction will automatically assign Dossier repair order numbers to NAPA’s purchase orders, speeding up the ordering process, the company says. NAPA’s parts system is intended to reduce on-site parts department costs by lowering inventory investment and obsolescence, while improving productivity and lowering transaction costs.
The Dossier-NAPA integration will be rolled out with Dossier 5.1, which is now in beta testing. Commercial release is scheduled for September, Arsenault said.
