McLeod Software has unveiled two new upgrades simultaneously-Version 8 of both its LoadMaster fleet management solution and of PowerBroker, the software solution for non-asset-based brokerage and logistics providers.

Several of the new LoadMaster enhancements and features were designed specifically to meet the needs of refrigerated carriers, the first of several specialized market segments the company plans to address going forward. “In our release cycle at this point, we are looking to develop sub-sets for specific market segments,” says Tom McLeod, company president & CEO.

For example, the new LoadMaster version includes a temperature-warning system on the Order Planning Screen to provide real-time updates of trailer temperatures and proactive alerts for orders that have temperature requirements. The feature can also provide a history of any temperature issues.

A new Over, Short and Damage Screen (OS&D) is designed to permit users to automatically start the claims process, if required, right from the screen. Users can also run a number of OS&D reports, including by commodity, driver, customer and shipper.

Refrigerated carriers and others can take advantage of the new Appointment Confirmation Screen designed to allow user-defined filters for appointments that need to be confirmed. The Settlement Module also includes a new feature every type of fleet can utilize, a Garnishments Screen, developed with the help of LoadMaster users, to set up and manage the often-complex garnishment process.

Version 8 of PowerBroker also offers a number of new enhancements and features, including an enhanced auto rating function designed to allow user-definable rates by order or load type; a new command button on Order Entry to permit the user to calculate an estimated fuel surcharge right at order entry; and a new Detail tab to show the complete history of an order, including billing, payment and settlement details.

LoadMaster and PowerBroker are fully integrated from operations through accounting and are based on Java2 Enterprise Edition technologies (J2EE). They will allow applications to run on Windows, Unix and AS/400 systems without recompiling, according to the company.
