Core-Mark taps Descartes

North American packaged consumer products distributor Core-Mark Holding Co. recently installed Descartes System’s integrated telematics and driver compliance solutions for its private fleet operation.

Descartes’ package provides GPS tracking, vehicle performance monitoring, in-cab navigation and support of government-required driver hours of service reporting rules, along with vehicle fuel tax reporting. It functions using the Google Android operating system, assorted hardware, and two-way wireless communication, the company added.

Frank Kovach, director of transportation at Core-Mark, said his company selected Descartes’ integrated package in large part because his fleet already used its route planning solutions, enabling Core-Mark to step up to a telematics and driver compliance capabilities integrated with routing and mobile computing options.
