GeoLogic Solutions, the provider of MobileMax mobile communications and fleet management systems, has announced that Spokane, WA-based Trans-System will be equipping an additional 200 tractors with its multi-mode communications and tracking system. The company said it will also be updating all 600 MobileMax systems currently in use by the Trans-System fleet with its new Cingular Wireless GPRS data solution.

Trans-System is the parent company of three motor carriers that field over 900 power units and more than 1,200 trailers from eight terminals. Included are System Transport, Inc., a flatbed hauler; refrigerated carrier T.W. Transport; and James J. Williams Bulk Service Transport, its tanker and bulk commodity division. Each part of the operation serves customers along the West Coast, in the Pacific Northwest and across the continental U.S. and Canada.

"By utilizing the latest technologies from GeoLogic we are able to better serve our customers and our drivers," said Dale Peterson, executive vp. "Having access to accurate data faster with the Cingular data network that has been offered as a MobileMax option is important for customer service as well as our ability to improve utilization. In addition, the ability to download software upgrades over the air, via the Cingular network, will help us save additional time and money.”
