SkyWave Mobile Communications, utilizing Inmarsat's global satellite service, is now offering SureLinx 8100c Satellite/GPRS terminal service. Using an onboard computer, controlled area network and RS485 and RS232 interfaces, the service allows transportation and logistic managers a low-cost option for communicating with vehicles in both urban and remote locations, the company says.

With CAN interfaces on SureLinx 8100c, fleet managers can add vehicle-diagnostic capabilities including fuel monitoring, speeding, idling, engine and transmission maintenance requirements, and cargo security alerts.
