Steve Largent, a former Oklahoma Congressman and National Football League Hall of Fame receiver, will deliver the keynote address at the Xata User Event (XUE), Aug. 12-14, in Minneapolis. Largent is currently the president & CEO of CTIA-The Wireless Assn.

XUE is for XataNet and Xata Turnpike users and others in the trucking industry who want to learn how to thrive in today’s tough economic environment, the company said.

Largent will speak on Monday, Aug. 13, and focus on the wireless trends that are shaping trucking’s future. During his time in Congress, Largent served as the vice chairman of the Energy and Air Quality Subcommittee. He also served on the Telecommunications, Oversight and Investigations and the Environment and Hazardous Materials subcommittees.

“I look forward to sharing insights I have learned from my experiences from the National Football League to Congress to the highly competitive wireless industry,” Largent said.

During his 14-year NFL career, the Seattle Seahawks receiver set six career records and was named to seven Pro Bowls.

Before taking the helm at CTIA, Largent worked as a consultant for Washington, D.C.-based Wiley Rein & Fielding and traveled the country as a motivational speaker. Largent has received numerous awards for his achievements including being named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans by the Jaycees and the NFL Man of the Year for his commitment to community service, as well as receiving the Golden Plate Award by the American Academy of Achievement. Athletes in Action also awarded Largent the first Bart Starr Award for serving as an exemplary role model both on and off the field.

“We’re honored to have someone of Steve’s experience and caliber shed light on wireless trends for XUE attendees, as the trucking industry and the technology it uses changes rapidly every year,” said Christian Schenk, vice president of product marketing, Xata. “Xata is at the forefront, helping customers and the industry understand and use these changes to their advantage to thrive in today’s tough economic environment.”

XUE features an education program, including presentations by industry experts and many of the leading companies with whom Xata partners. The event also provides Xata customers an opportunity to meet, socialize and share success stories. Xata team members will be on hand to answer questions, offer advice and interact with users to learn more about how Xata can better meet their needs.

Attendees can save $200 by registering at the early-bird rate of $495 before March 31, 2012. For more information and to register, visit www.xueconference.com. For questions, email [email protected].
