Trucking tech roundup: New tech available and safety systems chosen

June 18, 2025
Bendix, BeyondTrucks, Teletrac Navman, Relay Payments, and SureCam announce new trucking technology updates.

New Bendix Fusion safety system now available on Kenworth T680s

The latest version of Bendix Fusion, an advanced driver assistance system from Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, is available on Kenworth T680s.

The new Fusion system offers a new pedestrian autonomous emergency braking feature and a new high beam assist feature. A new forward-facing camera and upgraded software support the system, which is part of three ADAS packages Kenworth recently announced for the T680: ADAS, ADAS PRO, and ADAS PREMIER.

“We value the Kenworth team highly as a partner in our mission to help promote highway safety for North America’s fleets and drivers,” Nicole Oreskovic, Bendix VP of sales and marketing, said. “We’re proud to have Kenworth equip their trucks with Bendix’s latest technologies. It’s a continuation of the commitment to safety that we’ve shared from the earliest days of our full-stability systems in 2005 to our most recent advancements today.”

Bendix's pedestrian autonomous emergency braking can potentially provide audible and visual alerts and braking in response to a detected forward pedestrian in the vehicle’s path. The new high beam assist option of Bendix Fusion, when enabled, may automatically deactivate the high beam headlights under certain conditions.

In addition to those latest enhancements, the newly released Bendix Fusion system on Kenworth T680s includes previously available features, among them autonomous emergency braking, multi-lane autonomous emergency braking, highway departure braking, stationary vehicle braking, lane departure warning, and Bendix BlindSpotter side object detection system. In addition, the system prioritizes alerts to help reduce driver distraction.

Viking Transport selects BeyondTrucks TMS platform

BeyondTrucks recently announced that Viking Transport has joined the companies deploying its technology to meet business and operational needs.

"We've decided to migrate our TMS to the BeyondTrucks solution,” Todd Rusell, GM of Viking Transport, said. “As we have expanded, using a mixture of spreadsheets and manual processes in combination with our legacy TMS has not served our needs. BeyondTrucks allows us to automate our processes, which results in higher productivity, reduced errors, and better visibility into real-time data.  We are also seeing improved customer service experiences for both internal and third-party loads."

With the BeyondTrucks platform, Viking Transport now has several new capabilities for streamlining business processes and improving its utilization, including:

  • Driver workflow tools for standardizing operating procedures at the driver end
  • Integrations with Cargas and Sage systems for maintaining records and information and reducing manual data entry
  • Automated rating and payroll calculations for both internal and external transactions
  • Real-time data visibility reporting for quicker decision-making
  • Driver mobile app with an offline mode for use in remote areas without cell reception

Teletrac Navman enhances safety analytics with HERE location services

Teletrac Navman, a Vontier company and the connected mobility platform for industries that manage vehicle and equipment assets, recently announced a contract extension with HERE Technologies, a location data and technology platform, to provide customers with the most up-to-date driver safety data as a preferred supplier.

Teletrac Navman integrates map data and location services from HERE, including geocoding and search, route matching, map attributes, and speed limit data. Using this information, Teletrac Navman TN360 customers can report on events, such as harsh driving and speeding, and use this data for driver safety training and scorecards. Fleet operators can also measure risk and communicate safe driving principles to their drivers. Further, they can record and benchmark driver data, including poor driving behaviors; assign drivers a score based on their performance; and view incidents with Safety Analytics communicated via post-trip analytics, reports, and dashboards.

As part of the collaboration, HERE will include updated attributes, such as road speed limits, low bridges, and road signs, synchronized into safety reports that will be updated more frequently to ensure that events are accurately recorded and reported.

“Customers trying to promote safety in their fleets need the most accurate information to inform training programs and manage risk,” Doug Haebig, director of product management, Teletrac Navma, said. “Using post-trip analytics, customers can look retrospectively at behavior and ensure that driver safety programs are informed using the most up-to-date information.”

Relay Payments expands digital payments

Relay Payments, a digital payments provider, is broadening its offerings to cover another category of over-the-road expenses for its drivers and carriers. Through new partnerships with Southern Tire Mart at Pilot, Boss Truck Shops, and Ambest Service Centers, Relay customers can now pay with Relay at service and repair locations across the U.S. This expansion allows fleets and drivers to leverage Relay’s platform for not only fuel, lumpers, and scales but also for service, repair, tow, and preventive maintenance.

“No fleet or driver enjoys maintenance stops, so making the process simpler and more affordable is a game-changer,” said Jake England, director, Boss Truck Shops. “We’re excited to bring our industry-leading service and technical expertise to Relay’s customers, provide them industry-leading discounts, and help them get back on the road quickly.”

With Relay’s mobile app, customers can locate service centers along their routes. The platform's integration with these partners' truck service networks provides drivers with access to service, wherever they are. Paying with Relay not only improves the payment process with pre-negotiated discounts carriers may have but also unlocks new cost savings and an elevated driver experience.

"We integrated with Relay last year to simplify service payments and combat fraud, and it’s been an overwhelmingly positive experience for our customers," John Boynton, president, STMP, said. "We're thrilled to expand this partnership and deliver even more value by offering a reliable, streamlined payment solution for maintenance and repair services."

SureCam enhances coaching system with new driver app

SureCam, a provider of video telematics solutions, has launched a mobile app as part of its AI-powered coaching system to help drivers better understand their performance and target road safety improvements. The communication tool will provide automated coaching workflows—with personalized remediation and escalation paths—so drivers receive the guidance needed to correct high-risk behaviors.

“Our coaching system has transformed how fleets use the footage and data generated by AI video telematics. It is eliminating up to 70% of vehicle alerts, and with the introduction of our mobile app, we can free up even more time and make the entire process much more manageable,” John Weldon, president of SureCam, said. “This latest innovation will supercharge our AI coaching tool—already proven to cut high-risk driving events in half and dramatically reduce vehicle collisions—by supporting those drivers that need it most.”

The mobile app will enable fleets to take a stepped response to harsh driving and driver distraction alerts—triggered by an AI dashcam—with automated actions based on type, severity, and frequency. It will be possible to customize all communications, including warnings for initial violations or lower-risk events, followed by requests to view a training video, complete a coaching quiz, or attend an in-person meeting for repeat offenders. The driver will also be able to access all event footage, provide feedback using two-way messaging, and view an individual performance score with peer group comparisons.

Records of all communications and remediations will be available via SureCam’s AI coaching system, with a breakdown of coaching assignments—when sent and completed, or if it is overdue—to keep track of driver compliance. A reporting package will also enable a fleet to analyze results and calculate ROI figures in terms of risk reduction and time saved.
