Motive launches AI Dashcam Plus to improve safety and risk detection in commercial vehicles
Key takeaways
- AI Dashcam Plus runs 30-plus AI models simultaneously, detecting more risks in real time to prevent collisions.
- Dual stereo vision and sensor fusion improve depth perception and capture complex events for safer driving.
- Hands-free two-way communication and automated alerts help drivers respond instantly, reducing accidents and costs.
Motive recently launched AI Dashcam Plus, a commercial vehicle AI dash camera designed to detect and respond to risk instantly. The company, which provides AI solutions for physical operations, equips fleets with tools to prevent collisions and improve driver safety.
The AI Dashcam Plus is designed to detect unsafe behaviors with higher accuracy and lower latency than previous models. It integrates automated alerts that help drivers respond to critical fault codes, excessive idling, and other safety concerns. The Android-based platform enables regular AI model updates, voice commands, and over-the-air feature delivery without hardware replacement.
Key features of AI Dashcam Plus:
- Powered by Qualcomm’s Dragonwing QCS6490 AI processor, enabling more than 30 AI models to run simultaneously
- Dual forward-facing stereo vision for improved depth perception and collision detection
- Automated license plate recognition (ALPR) with a 1440p zoom lens for capturing plates in motion or poor weather
- Sensor fusion combining video, audio, GPS, telematics, and dual motion sensors for detecting complex events
- Hands-free, live two-way calling, and an AI voice assistant for driver communication and operational support
- Unified hardware design for successful collision footage uploads
- Dual-SIM, multi-carrier LTE connectivity to ensure consistent vehicle tracking and video uploads
Since 2023, Motive’s AI Dashcam has helped prevent more than 170,000 accidents and saved 1,500 lives. Customers using Motive’s AI Dashcam have reduced collisions by 80% and accident-related costs by 63%.
"Collision rates and related costs remain unacceptably high around the world," said Shoaib Makani, co-founder and CEO of Motive. "Organizations need AI-powered driver safety solutions that can perceive and respond in real-time. We’ve added three times more compute, created the first dash cam with stereo vision, and added hands-free communication, all in one system, so organizations can detect more risks and act faster. This isn’t just a new product; it reflects a shift toward proactive, AI-driven road safety."
