Starting in January, new, all 2010-model- year trucks in the U.S. (except for International brand vehicles) will need to keep an onboard tank filled with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) to be in compliance with the new emissions regulations effective then.
DEF is the emissions “dosing” fluid that is used in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems in Europe and elsewhere.
For fleets in the U.S., dispensing and handling DEF will be a new experience. To help companies get up to speed on working with DEF, the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) is offering a free white paper, titled “Successful Urea/Diesel Exhaust Fluid Handling, Storage & Dispensing.” The paper is sponsored by TerraCair, Spatco DEF Dispensing System, and Brenntag.
