A panel discussion on how tire best practices can reduce fuel consumption will be one of the highlights at the SAE International Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress and Exhibition.

The show, to be held October 7-9 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL., features presentations and discussions by industry leaders and innovators, focusing on global issues relative to technology, business, processes and challenges facing the industry. It includes technical sessions for engineering professionals and an exhibit hall with new products and technologies.

Al Cohn, director of new market development and engineering support for Pressure Systems International will chair the session, entitled “Fuel, Fuel, Fuel and Your Tires.” Among the topics to be discussed are tire design and compounds, wide-based vs. standard dual tires, retreads vs. new and the importance of proper inflation. Panelists include Douglas L. Jones, customer engineering support manager for Michelin North America; Randy Patterson, senior field engineer for Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions and Guy Walenga, director, engineering, commercial products and technologies, Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions.
