Recognizing its comprehensive efforts to reduce fuel consumption, JBS Carriers was presented with Fleet Owner’s 2013 Green Fleet of the Year Award during the Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Washington, DC.  Pictured from left to right at the ceremony are: Jim Mele, Fleet Owner editor-in-chief; Rodrigo Horvath, president of JBS Carriers, and Jerry Parker, WIX district sales manager.

The presentation was held during an U.S. EPA SmartWay training session held as part of the ACT Expo.  JBS is a SmartWay member and has been cited as one of its top performers in reducing freight transportation emissions.

“EPA congratulates JBS Carriers, Inc., a truck carrier partner in the EPA SmartWay program since 2010, for receiving Fleet Owner Magazine’s ‘2013 Green Fleet of the Year’ award,” said Christopher Grundler, office director for EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality. “This award, presented in conjunction with the ACT Expo Conference highlighting alternative fuels and innovative technologies, is among the many ways that industry recognizes sustainability in the freight industry, a goal that we at EPA support through our SmartWay program.  Within SmartWay, JBS Carriers has attained EPA’s highest environmental performance ranking for its trucking fleet category.”

The annual award celebrating demonstrated fleet efforts to promote environmental sustainability is co-sponsored by WIX Filters. As part of the award, WIX Filters will conduct a fleet assessment to help JBS reduce operating expenses and supply the fleet with its ecoLAST heavy-duty oil filters.
