TruStar Energy expands portable fuel system options

Feb. 21, 2014

TruStar Energy, makers of the Portable Fuel System (PFS) to supply natural gas to fleets, has expanded its offering with two new PFS models. The PFS Elite 150 and Elite 225 offers fleets even more choices when switching to natural gas.

The PFS is a self-contained compressor-redundant system that arrives on a small skid, but packs a productive punch – producing 66 diesel gallon equivalent (DGE) of fuel per hour via the PFS Elite 150 and now 100 DGE with the Elite 225 – making either unit perfectly suited for those operations that need to be operational quickly and don’t have available room needed for a traditional time-fill station.

In addition, the two-compressor PFS Elite 150 and three-compressor PFS Elite 225 provide redundancy – ensuring that fueling is always available – even if one compressor is down for servicing.

“When we designed the original PFS, we had a certain fleet profile in mind,” said TruStar Energy vice president, Scott Edelbach. “With the popularity of the PFS, we had more customers asking us for additional capacity as well as a few other modifications.”

The Elite 150 and Elite 225 are built around a common frame that can either accept two or three compressors – depending on the customer’s fuel requirement. The Elite series also comes on an open skid vs. the enclosed roll-off skid offered on the standard PFS.

“The new systems allow for enhanced cooling and provides ease of access to service components,” said Edelbach. “With 100 DGE per hour, the PFS Elite 225 also makes sense for larger fleets.”

The three-compressor model continues with the tradition of being energy efficient, requiring only a 300-amp service to operate.
