Aerodynamic retrofit should save reefer fleet $750,000 a year
March 30, 2015
LOUISVILLE. The refrigerated carrier Hirschbach Motor Lines is retrofitting its entire 800 tractor fleet with full aerodynamic kits from FlowBelow Aero, the company announced at the Mid America Trucking Show.
The Tractor AeroKits, which include four “quick release” wheel covers, two center fairings and two rear fairings, are expected to reduce the fleet’s fuel consumption by 240,000 gal. a year, according to FlowBelow. The East Dubuque, IL fleet says it validated the fuel savings, durability and installation time itself before making the retrofit decision.
“Our goal is to become the most fuel-efficient fleet in the trucking business while providing best-in-class service to our customers,” said Hirschbach president Brad Pinchuk. “As part of that strategy, we are excited to add the FlowBelow AeroKits to our entire semi-tractor fleet.”
