Energy company ConocoPhillips will deploy more than 300 propane autogas vehicles over the next five years with systems from Roush CleanTech.ConocoPhillips has been testing vehicles in northwest New Mexico and southwest Colorado since 2011. Thirty of the new vehicles will be converted this year. Each propane autogas truck emits about 67,000 fewer lbs. of carbon dioxide emissions over its lifetime than a gasoline powered vehicle, Roush said. Propane autogas is a low carbon fuel that reduces greenhouse gases by up to 25%, carbon monoxide by up to 60%, and nitrogen oxide by 20% compared to gasoline.“The addition of propane autogas trucks will greatly reduce ConocoPhillips’ carbon footprint while using a fuel they produce here in the U.S.,” said Todd Mouw, vice president of sales and marketing for Roush CleanTech. “And with autogas’ low-priced fuel and infrastructure costs, this investment will pay off for their bottom line.”
