Virginia opens propane autogas station to support cleaner fuel options for local fleets

Virginia celebrated the opening of a new propane autogas refueling station near Richmond International Airport, which will support local fleets as well as Henrico County Schools’ buses and Park ‘N Go shuttles. Propane autogas vehicles reduce emissions by up to 96% and cut operating costs by as much as 50% compared with diesel.

“When communities invest in clean transportation like propane autogas, everyone benefits. From the students riding on the buses, to the neighborhoods where these vehicles travel, to the business owners who save money,” Tucker Perkins, president and CEO of the Propane and Energy Research Council, said. “This is what the future of fleet transportation looks like, and as a Virginian, I am proud to see this investment in the Commonwealth.”

The station supports Henrico County Schools’ efforts to expand their propane bus fleet and Park ‘N Go’s airport shuttles, providing reliable fueling access while reducing emissions and fuel costs. Alliance AutoGas provided the refueling infrastructure, helping fleet operators adopt cleaner energy with convenience and minimal complexity. The station also highlights propane autogas applications across multiple fleet types, including bi-fuel vehicles that offer flexibility, extended range, and emissions reductions. Learn more…
