  • Seattle’s $1.5M incentives support Class 8 electric truck adoption and charging infrastructure for cleaner port operations.

Harbinger launches medium-duty electric trucks for Canadian commercial fleets

Harbinger recently launched medium-duty electric and hybrid-electric vehicle sales across all provinces and territories in Canada. The company is accepting orders through its Canadian dealer, Safetek Specialty Vehicles, and plans to expand its dealer network.

"The industry reception to Harbinger vehicles to date demonstrates a strong appetite for durable, affordable, and environmentally friendly alternatives to supplement gas and diesel fleets," Harbinger CEO John Harris said. "The need for EV options is amplified in Canada, where federal EV mandates are more aggressive. Our vehicles not only help Canadian companies meet these mandates, but they are also best-in-class medium-duty vehicles."

Electric step vans will be the first models available, with additional vehicle variants to follow. Canada's electric truck market is rapidly growing, valued at $15.8 billion CAD in 2024 and projected to nearly triple by 2030. Learn more…

Dragonfly Energy secures U.S. patent for battery communication technology in commercial fleets

Dragonfly Energy recently announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a Notice of Allowance for its latest patent, strengthening its Dragonfly IntelLigence battery communication technology. The patent covers multiple battery systems and wireless devices that share data over a connected mesh network, allowing error and warning codes to propagate even if one system is powered down.

“We believe this patent strengthens our Dragonfly IntelLigence platform and represents a major step forward in connected battery technology,” Dr. Denis Phares, CEO of Dragonfly Energy, stated. “By giving our batteries the ability to communicate directly with one another via our Battle Born HUB product, we’re enabling a more intelligent, adaptive, and efficient energy ecosystem that can respond dynamically to user needs and environmental conditions.”

This milestone supports Dragonfly Energy’s commitment to advancing American battery technology and manufacturing. Learn more…

Seattle invests $1.5 million in electric Class 8 trucks to reduce port emissions and support local fleets

The City of Seattle announced $1.5 million in truck purchasing incentives to Zeem Solutions to support 12 new electric Class 8 trucks serving the Port of Seattle. The program aims to reduce diesel pollution in frontline communities and build out charging infrastructure for commercial fleets.

“Seattle’s port is the backbone of our economy, but diesel drayage trucks that transport goods are some of the Duwamish Valley neighborhoods’ heaviest polluters,” Mayor Harrell, City of Seattle, said. “Through the Heavy Duty Electric Trucks Pilot, we’re investing in the technology that will ultimately reduce emissions in frontline communities while also supporting drivers to ensure they have real opportunities in the zero-emission economy.”

Zeem Solutions is partnering with local fleet operators and the Northwest Seaport Alliance to deploy trucks and charging depots, with vehicles expected in service by the end of 2026. The initiative is part of a larger push for clean transportation, backed by local funding, state vouchers, and climate innovation awards. Learn more…
