Soms Technologies has released a light- and medium-duty oil filter that it claims can help extend oil drain intervals out to 30,000 miles for most Class 1-6 vehicles.

The microGreen Extended Performance oil filter is designed as two filters in one that captures particles down to two microns in size. According to the company, it installs just like a traditional filter, but with its extended-life performance can reduce maintenance costs by 65%, cut oil usage by 70% and reduce filter changes by 50%.

“The automotive market has not seen a material advancement in oil filter technology since the early 1970s,” said Miles Flamenbaum, CEO. “By bringing this clean technology to the market, we are confident that we will change the behavior of fleet operators and individuals alike. We are excited to provide an innovative solution which offers tremendous cost savings, while making a significantly positive impact on our environment.”
