Halo Tire Inflator now available for tractors, trailers

Feb. 28, 2014

Following 8 million miles of testing over the previous two years, Aperia Technologies announced that its Halo Tire Inflator is now commercially available. The product is for use on drive and trailer axles on medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses.

The company said the Halo can be used on both dual or wide-base tires.

“The fuel savings from properly inflated tires are well documented,” said Josh Carter, CEO and co-founder of Aperia. “Numerous studies, including research by the FMCSA, show that by eliminating tire underinflation, the average fleet can save more than $2,200 annually for each tractor-trailer.”

Halo installs easily and uses the wheel’s rotational motion to pump and maintain optimal tire pressure. The system does not require any connection to a compressor and can be installed in 5 to 10 minutes per wheel end, Aperia said.

“Bringing truly innovative technology like the Halo to market takes a great deal of time, money and thought,” said Brandon Richardson, CTO and co-founder of Aperia. “After four years of R&D and more than two years of on-road fleet testing we are confident the Halo will satisfy the needs of the most demanding fleet operations.”

The company said the product is designed to work effectively for 500,000 mi. or 10 years.
