Monthly U.S. truck sales hit 35-month high in September

Class 8 sales in the U.S. last month crossed the 20,000-unit mark for the first time since Dec. 2011, according to WardsAuto.com.  Over the first three quarters, Class 8 sales are up 19.4% over 2013, totaling 158,288 units vs. 132,593 last year.

Combined medium- and heavy-duty truck also continued showing strong growth with 37,054 units sold for a 23.9% jump over Sept. 2013. Sales for the first nine months of the year are 16.1% ahead of last year, reaching 295,363 units, according to the latest numbers from WardsAuto.

Although the percentages lag  behind U.S. numbers, Canada medium- and heavy-duty truck sales also showed gains for both the month of Sept. and the first three quarters, WardsAuto reported.
