The 2025 FleetOwner 500: Private list ranks the most prominent private carriers in the U.S. by total registered power units. Released in April, the FO500 saw many ranking shifts after a busy 2024 of carrier acquisitions, mergers, consolidations, and expansions.

Two new categories were added to this year's private lists: landscaping/tree care and equipment rental. A number of private fleets have been recategorized as a result of the introduction of these new categories. This new top 10 list includes fleets that previously dominated the business or home services and construction lists.
Since this data was compiled based on December 31, 2024, figures, Herc Rentals (No. 53 on the private list and No. 3 on this top 10 list) has bought H&E Equipment Services (No. 210 on the private list and No. 6 on this top 10).
