The 2025 FleetOwner 500: Private list ranks the most prominent private carriers in the U.S. by total registered power units. Released in April, the FO500 saw many ranking shifts after a busy year of carrier acquisitions, mergers, consolidations, and expansions in 2024.

In addition to ranking the largest private fleet operations overall, FleetOwner categorizes these companies by equipment, cargo types, and industry segments. This media gallery focuses on utility (and like services) fleets.

This year's top private utility fleets gallery is nearly identical to the 2024 top 10. The main difference is that Southwest Gas fell from No. 4 on this list to No. 8. While AT&T and Verizon are the top fleets of this gallery, the rest of the private fleets are neck-and-neck in the rankings between No. 36 on the overall private list and No. 55. Therefore, while Southwest Gas only fell nine spots in the overall private list, this resulted in major change for this utility gallery.
