Ex-Guard launches Ex-Guard MAX to enhance front-end protection and reduce truck damage
Key takeaways
- Ex-Guard MAX provides extreme-duty front-end protection for Class 6-8 trucks, reducing damage from collisions and yard incidents.
- Independent testing to UN ECE R93 ensures underrun mitigation, giving fleets confidence in advanced safety performance.
- VISR bar and steer tire defender 3.0 protect critical components, helping fleets reduce repair costs and minimize downtime.
Ex-Guard recently announced the debut of the Ex-Guard MAX, the company’s strongest front-end protection system for commercial trucks. The company, which provides front-end protection solutions for the commercial transportation industry, designed the Ex-Guard MAX to expand its portfolio of grille guards with extreme-duty performance.
The Ex-Guard MAX is designed for Class 6-8 trucks and introduces reinforced guard technology, enhanced steer tire protection, and independent testing to meet the UN ECE R93 benchmark for front underrun mitigation. It builds on the third-generation XG-150 model with several major advancements.
Key features of the Ex-Guard MAX include:
- Vehicle Illumination Safety Reinforcement (VISR) bar: Enhances protection for collision mitigation system radars, fog lamps, and steer tires.
- Front underrun mitigation system: Helps prevent vehicles from sliding beneath the truck in certain collision scenarios and is independently tested to an international safety benchmark.
- Steer tire defender 3.0: Provides steer tire protection, redirecting impact forces away from critical components.
- ClearZone CMS compatible design to work with built-in collision mitigation system radars
- XERO-G lift assist for reduced effort raising and lowering the guard
- 8-gauge high-tensile steel coated with 3mm EVRCoat PVC finish
- LEVRLock dual latches
- License plate bracket
The Ex-Guard MAX is compatible with most over-the-road trucks from major OEMs, including Freightliner, Kenworth, Volvo, Mack, Peterbilt, International, and Western Star. The guards are available through Ex-Guard’s 2,500 dealers across the U.S. and Canada.
“We’ve independently tested the MAX to be the strongest, most protective grille guard we’ve ever built,” Jeremy Drever, director of engineering for Ex-Guard, said. “This guard is effective at mitigating front-end damage caused by wildlife and other vehicles, as well as frequent, minor incidents that often occur around the yard or at truck stops. In addition to our own rigorous validation, the guard has been independently tested—providing customers with confidence that it delivers protection above and beyond current regulations. As a result, this solution can help fleets significantly save on maintenance and replacement part costs when incidents do occur.”
