Sneak peek: 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The new lineup caters to both off-road enthusiasts and fleet operators, offering tailored trims like ZR2 and Work Truck. Chevrolet plans to begin deliveries in late 2026.

The latest generation of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is what General Motors touts as its “most powerful Silverado ever.”

“Silverado has earned truck customers’ trust over decades of hard work in the real world,” Scott Bell, VP of Global Chevrolet, said in a press release. “With the Next-Generation 2027 Silverado 1500, we’re taking that legacy forward by building the most capable, refined, and advanced Silverado lineup we’ve ever offered.”

Chevrolet expects to begin delivering trucks in late 2026. Until then, here’s a sneak peek of what prospective 2027 Silverado owners can expect:

Powertrain offerings in the new 2027 Silverado

The next-generation Silverado is available in four powertrain options. It’s available with two V8 engines: the next-generation, American-built 5.7L and 6.6L engines. These new V8s offer improved torque and power over the previous generation.

“We pushed these engines through an extensive testing and validation process,” Mark Dickens, executive chief engineer, said in the release. “From tough towing scenarios to the daily demands our customers put on their trucks, these next-generation V8s were engineered and proven to perform in the real world.”

The truck is also available with a 2.7L TurboMax engine paired with a 10-speed transmission and the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel, which FleetOwner has covered here

New Silverado, new look

The 2027 Silverado is available in seven trims. Three trims come with a factory lift: the Trail Boss, Custom Trail Boss, and the ZR2, which Chevrolet said is the most off-road capable ZR2 ever. Other trims include the more basic Work Truck, Custom, the new Silverado trim (formerly LT), and High Country.

A new exterior look is found across the lineup, which Chevrolet describes as “a bolder stance, stronger face, and more premium execution.” The most obvious difference onlookers will notice is in the headlights. The new LED headlight location resembles that of the 2026 Blazer and 2026 Traverse. The new Silverado’s taillights also resemble the 2026 Traverse.

In addition to redesigned headlights and taillights, the entire front fascia has been redesigned, and each trim will get its own grille styling.

“The goal with the new Silverado was to create a truck that looks stronger, more modern with demanding presence at first glance, while staying true to the authentic truck character customers expect from Chevrolet,” Chevrolet Global Executive Design Director Phil Zak said in the release.

Inside the new Silverado

As with just about every vehicle on the market, in the 2027 Silverado, the higher the trim, the more premium the features. The most prominent new cockpit feature in the Silverado’s ZR2 and High Country trims is the passenger screen display, which Ram trucks introduced a few years ago in their top trims. The Chevrolet version is 11.5 inches and provides access to entertainment apps such as YouTube, Disney+, Hulu, and more. These trims also feature a heads-up display and a rear camera mirror.

The High Country and ZR2 trims also feature a 16.3-inch center display and a 12.2-inch driver information cluster—but these screens are also available as standard features across the lineup, including in the Work Truck trim. The 2027 Silverado is also available with GM’s advanced safety technology and Super Cruise with Trailering.

Additionally, the center console received an update. While the Multi-Flex center console has been available in previous Silverado generations, the 2027 version features carbon fiber finishes in the ZR2 and a “unique debossed High Country logo” in the High Country trim.

Details of the 2027 Silverado Work Truck trim

While fleet owners themselves might appreciate the 2027 Silverado High Country, when it comes to a work truck, Chevrolet makes its Silverado a no-brainer with its Work Truck trim. The work-specific trim gets its own upgrades for MY 2027, starting at its core. The trim features the new V8 engine, which is designed for increased uptime and better tuned for work.

Configurations in the Work Truck trim are also designed to accommodate common work truck upfits, such as municipal, utilities, construction, and commercial fleets. And, GM’s ADAS offerings and connectivity are designed to “support fleet management without unnecessary complexity,” Chevrolet said in the release.

Chevrolet has yet to release pricing or availability for the 2027 Silverado, but FleetOwner will keep you updated.
