Qualcomm Inc. announced the commercial introduction of its GlobalTRACS equipment management system at the American Rental Association's 47th Annual Convention and Rental Trade Show in Anaheim, CA.

According to Qualcomm, the GlobalTRACS equipment management system provides reliable, wireless access to equipment engine hours and location data, regardless of equipment type or manufacturer.

Qualcomm said GlobalTRACS is the first available solution designed to meet the requirements of construction equipment manufacturers. It can be installed as factory or aftermarket equipment on all equipment makes and models so that fleet managers can remotely monitor engine hours and location.

Qualcomm's Network Management Center, which currently supports the company's OmniTRACS system for on-highwaty vehicles, will also support the GlobalTRACS system, allowing both to be integrated in fleets with on- and off-highway operations.
