Cingular has launched a new ‘Push-to-Talk’ (PTT) walkie-talkie service integrated with its cellular service. The service operates over the largest PTT coverage area in America, according to Cingular.

    Features include:

    • availability icons to allow PTT users to see if other PTT customers are available before making a call.
    • quick group calling to allow users to instantly place a group call after selecting contacts, or using pre-selected groups
    • PTT calls with up to 20 participants may be converted into a cellular call

The PTT feature offers unlimited minutes, national coverage and no hidden charges for group or national calls, Cingular said, for $9.99 for each line per month.
