The Labor Dept. is postponing the announcement of its ergonomics plan until later this fall because members of OSHA have been heavily involved in the rescue and recovery efforts at the WTC and Pentagon since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Motor carriers can now use the Internet for DOT transactions requiring payment at the agency's credit card payment website: http://diy.dot.gov/. DOT expects to have most functions requiring a payment from the public available on the Internet by year's end.

Overnite Transportation has lost another round to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in the union's two-year long strike against the carrier. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has ruled that Overnite can not proceed with a union de-certification attempt at the company's Laredo, TX, terminal. Overnite workers in Laredo won Teamster representation in September 1999.
