Georgia-based school bus manufacturer Blue Bird Corp. is offering a new GPS-based 24/7 tracking and tracing security system as a factory-installed option.

Blue Bird is partnering with San Diego, CA-based Celtron International and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Satellite Security Systems (S3), to install the GlobalGuard technology on Blue Bird’s entire product line. Blue Bird was given exclusive rights to integrate S3's technology into every school bus they manufacture, as well as all buses they service through their dealer network.

Capabilities of S3’s system in school bus applications include:

  • monitoring of location, speed, and driver performance;
  • real-time communication between vehicles and the support center;
  • alert systems for virtual perimeters or excessive speeds.
