International Truck and Engine Corp. has rolled out its 59001 tractor, a 4x2 configuration designed for on- and off-highway use.
“After listening to our customers and dealers, we determined a specific need for a lightweight tractor that is rugged and strong enough to haul rocks or sand to and from the job site,” said truck group president Steve Keate.
The company said the tractor requires no additional reinforcing to achieve the durability needed to satisfy customer demand, which it said is a unique feature of the severe-service market.
The aluminum cab and long hood reflect the traditional styling favored by International. The tractor also features the same interiors introduced in March with the 5000i Series.
The tractor is equipped with a Cummins ISM engine boasting 350 horsepower and 1350 lbs.-ft torque. Engines available include various Cummins ISM and Caterpillar C-10/C-12 models with 335 to 430 horsepower ratings and torque ratings from 1350 to 1650 lbs.-ft. Larger displacement engines will be available after October 2002.
A transmission for every driver preference, including Allison automatic, Eaton Fuller 10-speed AutoShift and various Eaton Fuller 10 to 18-speed manual transmissions, are available.
