Ford's truck sales slump

Through the first half of this year, Ford Motor Co.'s truck sales have declined, with June sales mixed for both its light- and medium-duty truck products.

Ford said overall sales of light trucks dropped to 200,165 units this June, down 4.1% from June 2002. Light truck sales also declined through the first six months of 2003, dropping 0.5% to 1.12 million units when compared to the same period last year.

Sales of Ford's F-Series light- and medium-duty trucks were flat in June at 73,938 units, but dropped 4% to 402,072 units for the first half of 2003. Sales of its Class 7 F-Series models jumped 23.3% to 671 units in June, but dropped 18.3% to 2,960 units through the first six months of 2003.
