Wireless data service over the land-based Cingular Wireless digital GPRS network has been added as an option for the MobileMax wireless communications and tracking system from GeoLogic Solutions. MobileMax is a multi-mode system that combines the lower-cost data service of land-based networks with the complete coverage of satellite networks.

With its broad national coverage, the Cingular high-speed GPRS network should greatly increase the percentage of data transmissions over the land-based portion of the service, decreasing communications costs, says John Lewis, GeoLogic CEO. According to Cingular, its GPRS network covers 40,000 highway miles and 13,000 cities.
