Diesel price falls for fourth straight week

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) said the average price of diesel fuel at the pump dropped 3.3 cents last week to $1.447, marking the fourth consecutive week the price has fallen. Although the price per gallon is 2.4 cents higher than the same time last year, it had dropped 8.2 cents since April 30. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) said the average price of diesel fuel at the pump dropped 3.3 cents last week to $1.447, marking the fourth consecutive week the price has fallen.

Although the price per gallon is 2.4 cents higher than the same time last year, it had dropped 8.2 cents since April 30.

The price fell 5.8 cents in the Midwest, while the Rocky Mountain region saw a 3.4-cent decline and the Gulf Coast a decline of 3.1 cents. However, there were price increases in the California and West Coast regions.

DOE's Energy Information Administration surveys 350 fueling stations at the start of each week, and usually reports the results on the same day that it polls the stations.
